What this programme is
“This Amazing Circus” is the largest show in the Circus Asia repertoire. This is big circus in the classical sense: a ring, two acts and an international troupe in which every performer brings their own act. A running storyline ties it together — a journey along the Great Silk Road, from the steppes of Kazakhstan to the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and the oases of Uzbekistan.
The score is played live rather than from a recording: the orchestration picks up the rhythm of the act and changes with it. Thirty performers take part in the programme.
Who performs
The cast is made up of performers who each bring their own act on tour:
- Tuychi Khan — illusionist and clown; works the audience between acts and performs large-scale illusion;
- the Sarychev family — the flying act under the dome;
- Arkady Goreginyan — trained cats from Yuri Kuklachev's theatre;
- Dolores Zapashnaya — the bear act.
How the show is built
The programme follows the rules of a classic circus evening: genres alternate so the audience's attention never sags. Illusion and clowning keep the rhythm and link the episodes, the flying act becomes the climax of the half, and the animal acts give a pause and speak to the youngest viewers.
There is an interval between the acts. After it the troupe returns to the ring and carries the programme through to the full-company finale.
Who the programme is for
- families with children of any age — rated 0+;
- organised and school groups;
- adult audiences: the programme is not aimed at children alone;
- first-time circus-goers — in two hours almost every genre of the ring passes by.
Length and format
The show runs 120 minutes and consists of two acts with an interval. The age rating is 0+. The start time of a given performance is shown on the ticketing service page: it differs from city to city.
How to buy a ticket
Circus Asia does not sell tickets directly and charges no commission. In the schedule of this programme each city has a button leading to the official ticketing service; tickets can also be bought at the venue box office. Once the last day of the run in a city has passed, the button switches off automatically — no dead links are left in the schedule.
